Manuscript/Project consultation. One-on-one, in-depth exploration of manuscript or artistic project:
Manuscript Engagement: Participants will receive an articulated description of the structure, sequencing, and trajectory of their work(s), including structural and/or line editing and contextual and paratextual inquiry.
Participants receive an inquiry designed to help open and continue the work, or to complete a work, as the case may be. We will also consider the manuscript in terms of process and practice.
Two-month manuscript review period, and one meeting (online or in-person) 3.5 hours. $500.00
Project Engagement Participants will be led through a process of inquiry designed to help unearth directives and leads already inherent in the work, and will be given new methodologies including ritual, contemplative meditation, imaging work and dream technologies. This writing practice is grounded in inquiry, observation, and encounter, and as such participants will be guided in a practice that works to strengthen those tools. We will also work together to examine obstructions and open pathways in both the practice and in the writing.
Module A: Four meetings (online or in-person) 60 minutes, and four written responses. $400
Signal Transduction and Writing
The process known as “signal transduction” describes the series of steps required to kick off a myriad of biological happenings, including the conversion of a signal into (a chemical or electrical) message, a message that, through several varying cascading steps, becomes action or response. In this class, we will piggyback the delightful intricacies of the transduction sequence: enacting its steps in weekly missions, we will create and deliver signals, locate and transverse “membranes,” alter our “shapes,” and consider other related terms such as binding, amplification, diversification, and transcription in terms of the writing act. “Oracular Writing” is based in principles of inquiry and receptivity, open to every writer and artist, working in any genre. This course is generative, designed to ignite and liberate the thinking necessary to make new writing/art. Students will pose and receive inquiries regarding their work and thought process, and around an integrated reading/viewing list of writers and artists.
